Spotland NFT

We are Lau and Nick. A couple of artists, and together we are Spotland.

We are the creators of Saya, the shapeshifting demon. The Saya collection consists in 1/1 pieces of art that includes design, animation and original music.

It was obvious from the beginning that our talents complemented each other, and that we needed to use that gift from the universe to create innovative art.

We wanted to craft something with design, animation and music and introduce it to the NFT world but, at the same time, it had to be something different and original. One day, we got inspired and created the first piece of the Saya Collection, called “Original Saya”. We instantly fell in love with our creation and from that moment we worked non stop in our newly acquired passion: imagining and creating the many forms of this shapeshifting demon called Saya.

Before getting into NFTs, we worked as freelancers.

One of our clients hired us to create “Trippy animations and videos”. We were quite surprised about the unusual character of that request.

What happened? He was totally hidding from us that he was using our work to sell as NFTs, so when we found out what was happening we decided that if this guys could sell our work for crypto, then we could also sell our own work for crypto. It was hard at first because we didn’t had any experience in either crypto or NFTs, but getting into NFTs completely changed our lives for the better.

My advice is that NFTs are the opportunity of a lifetime to create something that has never been created before. It’s fertile ground for artists of all disciplines. Just don’t be blinded by the financial speculation in the NFT world and create something out of your soul and your heart.

The biggest obstacle in not only our project in but the NFT world, is getting people less interested in gambling in the short term, and more interested in investing in art in the long term. In the NFT world people usually want to make money and make money fast, but that’s not how we roll. Our rhythm is different because we work a lot on crafting each piece. People will usually spend their money in a generative 10k collections going up in price, not in artists that spend weeks in crafting each piece.

One of the biggest rewards is when people get interested in our art and appreciate the effort and passion that is involved in creating an animation with original sound design and music. It makes everything worth it.

For example, answering the questions for your article is a great reward for our work.
